A Christmas in July Gender Reveal Party
There are so many reasons why I love putting a celebration together, but this one in particular will always hold a special place in my heart. Being pregnant has been one of the greatest gifts in my life and I’m cherishing the journey. My husband and I knew we would want to find out the gender prior to his/her arrival in October, and it was also important for us to keep that moment intimate and between the two of us. It was so special and a moment I’ll never forget; finding out that we would be welcoming a baby boy into our family.
With that being said, much of our pregnancy journey has been pretty relatively private as we’ve navigated through pregnancy during a pandemic. When it came time to share the news with our friends and family we wanted to create a festive, and safe, environment where we could celebrate together (I am an event planner after all!). “Gender Reveal” occasions have grown in popularity over the last few years, and although they’re not for everyone, it gave me the opportunity to come up with a party theme that I had not seen done before – a Christmas in July theme!
A small group of friends and family were invited over for a backyard cookout and I was able to take advantage of my “Christmas obsessed” inventory to decorate. We put a greenery arch decorated with blue beach balls, baby bottles, blue sand toys, and matching accessories. For the pink tree I went with a flocked style and decked it out with flamingos and palm leaves.
The Next Sweet Thing Bakery is always a go-to for sugar cookies for our parties and she came up with the most creative options for this theme. There was an assortment of flamingos, beach balls, sunglasses, and my personal favorite – gingerbread boys with blue swim trunks and gingerbread girls with pink swimsuits. Having little touches like this really helped to pull the Christmas in July Gender Reveal Party theme together and it was great seeing how it all came together.
Now for the REVEAL!
Since Ryan and I knew the gender prior to the party and for a fun play on both a summer and a Christmas theme, I ordered blue flip flops for each guest and created goodie bags for them. When it came time for the big reveal each guests opened their present to see which color, blue or pink, was waiting inside. We LOVED seeing everyones reactions and are so thankful to have friends and family who wanted to share in that moment with us.
We also want to thank Love is Greater Photography for stopping by to capture details and memories from the party.
